Fantasia On Christmas Carols

For symphony orchestra, baritone solo and SATB choir

Ralph Vaughan Williams wrote Fantasia on Christmas Carols for baritone solo, chorus, and orchestra in 1912. I was commissioned by Doane College nearly a hundred years later to arrange the piece for their annual Christmas Festival. In order to accomodate all of the personnel that would be performing, it was necessary to greatly expand the orchestration to add several wind parts. The vocal and strings parts are unchanged, but the wind instrumentation is now fit for a full wind ensemble. The arrangement was premiered December 6th and 7th, 2008 by the combined festival choirs and bands. It was re-edited for performance on December 9, 2012
