Transcribed 2011 for French horn and tuba duet, edited 2024 for flexible duet instrumentation

Eine kleine Nachtmusik (K 525) was premiered on April 15, 2011 by Sam Rickert and Andrew Votipka.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart wrote Eine kleine Nachtmusik (Serenade No. 13 for strings in G major), K. 525 for a chamber ensemble in 1787. I wrote this for a pair of students that wanted a French horn/tuba duet to play at district music contest. Knowing the students needed a challenge, this piece was a perfect fit, with the horn taking the melody and the tuba taking the bass part.

This arrangement was updated in 2024 to provide a flexible duet option for standard concert band instruments. Parts are now available for any combination of wind or mallet instruments to allow any two performers the opportunity to perform this classic work!
