{"id":1007,"date":"2025-03-16T02:00:05","date_gmt":"2025-03-16T02:00:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kayeskinner.com\/food\/guacamole-hummus\/"},"modified":"2026-03-28T03:14:32","modified_gmt":"2026-03-28T03:14:32","slug":"guacamole-hummus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kayeskinner.com\/food\/guacamole-hummus\/","title":{"rendered":"Guacamole Hummus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Hummus<\/strong><br \/>\n2 cups (or 1 can) cooked garbanzo beans<br \/>\n3 tbsp lemon juice<br \/>\n2 garlic cloves (about 1 tbsp), chopped<br \/>\n1\/3 cup tahini paste (most grocery stores sell it)<br \/>\n1\/4 cup olive oil<br \/>\n1\/2 \u2013 1 tsp salt<br \/>\n1 \u2013 3 tbsp bean \u2018juice\u2019<\/p>\n<p><strong>Guacamole<\/strong><br \/>\n2 avocados<br \/>\n2 tbsp lemon juice (lime juice is great too)<br \/>\n1\/2 tsp salt<br \/>\n1\/2 tsp black pepper<br \/>\n1\/4 tsp garlic powder<br \/>\n1\/4 tsp onion powder<br \/>\n1\/4 cup chopped cilantro<br \/>\n1 tomatoes, diced (optional)<br \/>\nExtra cilantro and tomato for garnish<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nPlace beans in a food processor (or blender) and add the lemon juice, garlic, tahini, and salt to taste. Stream in olive oil and bean \u2018juice\u2019 until you achieve your desired consistency.<\/p>\n<p>Cover and refrigerate until ready to use. It will store in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.<\/p>\n<p>Scoop avocado flesh out of the \u2018shell.\u2019 Using a fork, mash it in a bowl with the spices and lemon juice. Mix in the chopped cilantro and chopped tomato. Serve immediately to prevent browning.<\/p>\n<p>To serve, spread hummus in a shallow bowl (I used a pie plate). Scoop guacamole on top of hummus, spread it around a little bit.
