{"id":1283,"date":"2025-03-16T02:00:13","date_gmt":"2025-03-16T02:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kayeskinner.com\/food\/glazed-cinnamon-scones\/"},"modified":"2026-03-28T02:27:41","modified_gmt":"2026-03-28T02:27:41","slug":"glazed-cinnamon-scones","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kayeskinner.com\/food\/glazed-cinnamon-scones\/","title":{"rendered":"Glazed Cinnamon Scones"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Scones<\/strong><br \/>\n2 cups flour<br \/>\n2 teaspoons baking powder<br \/>\n1\/2 teaspoon baking soda<br \/>\n1\/2 teaspoon salt<br \/>\n1 teaspoon cinnamon<br \/>\n1\/2 cup butter<br \/>\n1 egg, separated<br \/>\n3 Tablespoons honey<br \/>\n1\/3 cup buttermilk (or 1\/3 cup milk mixed with 1\/2 teaspoon of lemon juice)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Crumb Topping<\/strong><br \/>\n1-2 Tablespoons turbinado (or granulated sugar)<br \/>\n1\/2 teaspoon cinnamon<\/p>\n<p><strong>Glaze Ingredients<\/strong><br \/>\n1 cup powdered sugar<br \/>\n1-3 teaspoons milk (enough to make a glaze)<br \/>\n1\/2 teaspoon vanilla<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nPreheat oven to 400 degrees. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly.<\/p>\n<p>Separate the egg white and yolk. Set the egg white aside. In a separate bowl, mix egg yolk, honey and buttermilk (or milk\/lemon juice mixture). Add to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.<\/p>\n<p>Form dough into a ball on a floured surface. Roll or pat out to half an inch in thickness and eight inches in diameter. Cut into eight equally-sized pieces. Transfer to a greased baking sheet. Whisk the egg white until froth forms and brush over the tops of scones. Mix turbinado and cinnamon together and sprinkle over egg-white-topped scones.<\/p>\n<p>Bake at 400 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Mix together powdered sugar, milk and vanilla until glaze forms.
